Starting with the Series…

A good first step is to start from the broad. The wide range of selections can actually be simplified into 6 series, or further, to 3 aspects.

GT Titan series _ Top-of-the-Line Crazy Flagships

GT series is the extreme flagship designed to overkill and break any performance status quo. This usually means overclockable processors, top-of-the-line graphics, and cutting-edge features. The series also takes advantage of its beefier form factor to maximize cooling, hence the limitless performance.

GS Stealth series _ Ultra-Portability with Sleek Style

GS series is the combination between mobility, performance, and style. The goal is to pack premium performance within the most thin and light footprint, and a low-profile premium chassis. The extended battery life also adds to the portability aspect, making a great companion on-the-go.

GE Raider series _ For the Enthusiasts

GE series is born with enthusiastic gamers in mind. Aside from delivering maximum performance, from the first series to feature RGB lighting to anodized diamond cut cover, the GE series continuously brings gamers the most “bling” to show off their spirit.

GP Leopard / GL series _ Perfect Value for Everyone

GP & GL series offers the core gaming features from the high-end models, but now available across a wide range of configurations. Every gamer can sure find the level of performance they’re looking for.

GF Thin _ Mobility & Style Become Accessible

GF series brings mobility and aesthetics more accessible than ever before with its thin and light design. Gamers no longer have to make trade-off between value and looks.

Digging into the Names

Now that we know the story behind each series, let’s take a deeper look into what the numbers and characters stand for in the model names.

Which Model(s) to Look Out For

If the above information has just made deciding even harder, here are a few recommendations from each series:

GT series - GT76 Titan

The GT76 Titan is pushing the boundaries on what a gaming laptop can be.
To satisfy even the most extreme gamers, the latest GT76 Titan sets new performance standards by pairing Intel® Core™ i9-9900K desktop processor, overclocked to 5.0GHz across all 8 cores, and top-of-the-line RTX 2080 graphics.
All this ultimate power is kept cool with MSI exclusive Cooler Boost Titan, the 4-fan and 11-pipe cooling design, for extreme gaming power.

GS series - GS75 Stealth / GS65 Stealth

Both 17" and 15" version now come with the new gold-trim aesthetics and sub-20mm chassis.
While the top-tier performance is undoubtedly AAA-title-capable, the extended battery life is also enough to last throughout most of the day as a daily driver.

GE series - GE65 Raider

The GE65 is pretty self-explanatory with its aggressive look and top-of-the-line specs.
The first among the series to feature ultra-fast 240Hz IPS-level display, flashy RGB, red anodized diamond cut trim, what better ways to prove a true gamer?

GF series - GF75 Thin / GF63 Thin

The GF75 and GF63 have bring thin and light gaming to the mainstream.
The series come with thin bezel, thin chassis, but never thin out on the performance.

GP / GL series - GP75 Leopard

The brand new GP75 is the first within its series to feature thin bezel display.
With configurations ranging from top-tier RTX graphics to the popular GTX graphics, the GP75 offers a variety of performance for gamers to choose from.

Best MSI gaming laptop deals

By Jorge Jimenez

Ride the dragon with these killer MSI gaming laptop deals.

The best MSI gaming laptop is a high quality gaming laptop, period. MSI is a name that's often associated with powerful gaming components and some of the best gaming laptops around. So, we're making an effort to try and find the best prices on these MSI gaming laptops to keep you in touch with what's on offer right now.

If you're after true portability without sacrificing performance, the Stealth Thin takes full advantage of Nvidia's Max-Q technology, with a slim-line chassis that weighs in at less than five pounds. You'd have a tough time finding a better gaming laptop that delivers the freedom you're after without a trade-off in terms of FPS.

If performance is your top priority, a heavier 'muscle class' laptop or 'desktop replacement' with more powerful components might be a better bet, such as the MSI GT75 Titan. And with a choice of full-fat GTX or RTX graphics, the aptly named Titan is easily capable of handling tasks such as recording, streaming, and editing too.

The MSI G Series consists of seven laptop tiers; we go over each one here

GV Series

Gamers on tight budgets should start with the bottom-of-the-barrel MSI GV series. These laptops offer last generation graphics (GeForce GTX 1050, 1050 Ti, and 1060) with Core i5 and i7 options. Note that these are the same processors as found on enthusiast gaming laptops like the Razer Blade or Asus Zephyrus series.

Auxiliary features are kept to a bare minimum meaning only a single-zone keyboard backlight, no Thunderbolt 3, no fast refresh rates, no fast response times, and a very small 41 Wh battery capacity.

GV62 review

15.6-inch GV62
17.3-inch GV72

GF Series

One step up from the GV Series is the GF Series. The GF63 has a thin bezel design to be noticeably lighter and smaller than the GV series. Faster 120 Hz and 5 ms displays are now also an option, but the single-color single-zone keyboard backlight remains. Note that its CPU and GPU options remain identical to the GV Series for similar gaming potential.

The older GF62 models actually have tri-zone RGB keyboard backlighting, but these are stuck with older Kaby Lake Core i7-7700HQ CPUs.

GL Series

The GL family is where performance begins to ramp up. The GL63 and GL73 can be equipped with Nvidia's brand new GeForce RTX 2060 GPU for a rough 35 percent graphics boost over the GTX 1060. Higher quality panels with both 120 Hz refresh rate and 94 percent NTSC color coverage are also optional. Single-color single-zone keyboard backlight remains the same as on the GF63 and GV series.

GL73 review

15.6-inch GL63
17.3-inch GL73

GP Series

The GP Series is only a minor step up from the GL. The latest GP73 introduces three-zone RGB keyboard backlighting, but it is otherwise nearly identical to the GL series. MSI has yet to update the GP series with GeForce RTX graphics and so GPU options are "only" up to the GTX 1070.

GP62 review

15.6-inch GP62
17.3-inch GP73

GE Series

This is where we enter the high-end enthusiast range. The GE75 introduces dual 3 W subwoofers, 144 Hz display options, per-key RGB lighting, and GeForce RTX graphics from the RTX 2060 all the way up to the RTX 2080. The model even manages to be thinner (1.08-inch vs. 1.25-inch) and lighter (5.75 lbs vs. 5.95 lbs) than the 17.3-inch GP73.

Chassis design and port positioning are otherwise very nearly the same between the GE75 and GP73 series.

GE63 review

15.6-inch GE63
17.3-inch GE75

GS Series

The GS laptops are probably the most well-known and popular with readers. These models are designed to be super-thin, super-light, and super-attractive — often at the expense of louder fans and more flexible designs. Both the 15.6-inch GS65 and 17.3-inch GS75 models have 144 Hz 1080p displays, RTX 2060, RTX 2070 Max-Q, and RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU options, per-key RGB lighting, and Thunderbolt 3. Display response time is 7 ms for the GS65 and 3 ms for the GS75.

GS65 review

15.6-inch GS65
17.3-inch GS75

GT Series

The GT Series consists of MSI's flagship enthusiast offerings with the longest list of features. 4K UHD displays are available and GPU options include only the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 with nothing lower. Core i9 CPUs and 2.5 Gbps LAN ports make appearances here as well.

These are also by far the heaviest laptops in the entire G Series. The GT75 weighs almost twice as much as the GE75 while being over twice as thick. The increase in volume allows the GT75 to potentially run quieter, cooler, and faster than its lesser siblings.
