Apart from his work with Poison and on his own, Michaels has earned his small screen stripes with such shows as VH1's Rock Of Love, NBC's Celebrity Apprentice, and Travel Channel's Rock My RV.
Bret Michaels has long maintained that although Poison might not be deemed high art by the rock press establishment, that doesn't mean that their music doesn't matter in a big way for a lot of people: We don't always know what we're doing, we just do it with conviction. (Laughs) And somehow originality comes from that, y'know? And writing what I think are really, really strong songs both musically but mostly lyrically, like 'Something To Believe In' or 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn.' They hit people's soul.
From the creators of Overhaulin’ and the producers of Extreme RVs comes a new series on the Travel Channel called Rock My RV! hosted by legendary rocker Bret Michaels beginning Sunday, May 26 @ 9|8c.
Each week Michaels and his design/build team will transform ordinary RVs into the most outrageous, bad-ass, 21st-century mobile mansions on the road.
“Between touring and traveling, said Michaels, I spend a lot of time on the road, and my tricked-out, custom coach is my home away from home.
According to press information: For the past 25 years, Bret has spent at least nine months out of the year in a tour bus that he personally designed from top to bottom outfitted with a state-of-the-art Hi-Fi, Wi-Fi and custom-tension band gym. Michaels spent his childhood taking road trips in his familys Winnebago, and understands just what these vehicles mean to their owners. In Rock My RV, Bret wants to give people the chance to experience the fun of the open road in a customized, tricked-out trailer of their very own.

Reality show drive-by: Rock My RV with Bret Michaels
But the RV actually has some practical (if a little less fun) updates. The RV's flooring, ceiling, seats, upholstery, and appliances have all been replaced so that the vehicle is essentially unrecognizable inside. The team has installed a top-of-the-line kitchen that will allow them to sizzle up sausages as they putter along the open road, and an automatic awning that unfurls to create an outdoor area alongside the RV.
It's no surprise that Sally and Bill are enormously happy with the Sausage Wagon, as Michaels declares this one of the "harder transformations" he and his team have taken on. It's an impressive makeover, to be sure. But the real transformation is the one Michaels has found in his half-decade on reality television. Michaels has somehow morphed from a partied out-hair metal singer chasing after anything with blonde extensions in a miniskirt to a cheery, helpful host on the Travel Channel, helping a quaint couple realize their dream of traveling the open road and cooking sausages. It's an admirable step forward for Bret Michaels, Reality Star (but let's still not give up hope on Bret Michaels: Bandana Factory of Dreams just yet).
