AMOCO Federal Credit Union expands its reach
TEXAS CITY, TX (April 8, 2021) —
AMOCO Federal Credit Union is excited to announce its recent field of membership expansion to serve 2.5 million potential members throughout Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, and Liberty Counties.
With NCUA’s approval, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the field of membership expansion to include 477 census tracts. As part of this expansion, people who live, work (or regularly conduct business in), worship, or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located within the prescribed communities of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land area, now have the opportunity to apply for membership at AMOCO FCU.
The communities that AMOCO has served since 1937 was the motivation for seeking this expansion. Providing affordable financial products and services lends way to a prosperous place for people to live, work, and raise their families. “This addition gives AMOCO the opportunity to enhance the financial lives of individuals who have not had convenient access to financial institutions. By offering education and affordable products and services, we know we can make a positive and lasting impact,” Tina Foster, Executive Vice President of Administration for AMOCO FCU.

AMOCO Federal Credit Union has a diversified membership that includes 554 local sponsor companies and 79,000 members located throughout the country. With $800 million in assets, AMOCO is recognized as one of the largest credit unions in the Houston/Galveston area.
As a regulated financial services organization, AMOCO's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) department has the ongoing responsibility to ensure the security and integrity of the organization's network, systems and data. To meet these requirements, the IS&T department had been using BeyondTrust Remote Support with an on-premises appliance deployment for several years.
Extremely satisfied with BeyondTrust's Remote Support, IS&T management learned that BeyondTrust offers a Privileged Access solution and immediately saw its potential to heighten the organization's security even more. With 14 internal users and 6 vendors to manage, AMOCO can use BeyondTrust's Privileged Access solution to tighten control over network access and permissions and well as audit any activity in their environment.
AMOCO Federal Credit Union OK'd for field-of-membership expansion
The National Credit Union Administration has approved a massive field-of-membership expansion for Texas-based AMOCO Federal Credit Union, increasing its potential membership to nearly 2.5 million consumers across six counties.
Specifically, the expansion includes the addition of 477 census tracts of underserved consumers who are now eligible to join the credit union. Membership was previously only open to those who worked for a variety of select employer groups, or their families.
“This addition gives AMOCO the opportunity to enhance the financial lives of individuals who have not had convenient access to financial institutions,” Tina Foster, AMOCO FCU’s executive vice president of administration, said in a press release. “By offering education and affordable products and services, we know we can make a positive and lasting impact.”
CUCollaborate, a consultancy that assists credit unions with field-of-membership issues, assisted with the expansion effort.
AMOCO FCU holds assets of nearly $1.2 billion and serves more than 90,000 members. The credit union earned $6.1 million last year, according to call report data from the NCUA, about 3% less than what it earned in 2019, driven in part by an 18.7% increase in expenses.

Amoco Federal Credit Union Employee Reviews
Positive, uplifting people and a great atmosphere
Marketing Intern (Current Employee) - League City, TX - February 11, 2014
While working at AMOCO Federal Credit Union, I have had many opportunities to utilize my skills and talent in the Marketing world! From writing press releases, to creating campaigns and planning/coordinating events, AMOCO has taught me how to work with people, manage my time, and work with a major time crunch! I love the day to day challenges of ambiguity, new projects, and complex problem solving and decision making! The management team does an amazing job collaborating and coaching everyone below them by communicating efficiently and being persistent. My co-workers are very talented and very helpful as well. If anyone needs assistance, anyone will be glad to help solve your problem until it gets resolved. I work with hard working, dedicated, and committed people who genuinely enjoy their jobs. The hardest part of my job would be time management-so much work to do, so little time! The most enjoyable part of my job would be event planning or designing campaigns. This is where I get to express my creativity and strong organization and execution skills.
Amazing people, culture, and atmosphere. Incentives

Works great but...
Everything that I use this app works great, but the viewing your credit card link. When I click on the reward section it just says session expired. Please look into and fix this issue.
Face ID stopped working
A few glitches but overall a decent app to check balances & make transfers. Easier & faster than a desktop. Depositing checks feature doesn’t always work. Sometimes the app runs very slow & takes a long time to load. I loved the convent of checking my balance from the app however it’s no longer convenient that Face ID doesn’t work on this app. Checked my phone settings & other apps & it’s only happening w/ AFCU. Whoever they have making this app is horrible. Every update breaks something on the app. They eventually get it fixed, but by then it’s only a matter of weeks before they update and break another feature. It’s terribly frustrating for those of us who do the majority of our banking and bill pay on our phones.
